Essential 1 - Overview of Objectives and Requirements

Prerequisite:

  • None

This course provides an overview of the objectives of CALPADS and its requirements.

Topics include:

  • CALPADS goals and benefits
  • Data collected
  • Schedule of activities
  • Key differences between CALPADS and previous data collections
  • CALPADS data management expectations

Target Audience: LEA program, data management, and leadership staff responsible for reporting and certifying data in CALPADS who have NOT attended Best Practices Cohort Training Sessions 1-3 or the CALPADS File Submission Overview training sessions.

Essential 2 – Features, Code Mapping, and User Access

Prerequisite: Essential 1 – Overview of Objectives and Requirements

This course provides an overview of the features and key concepts of CALPADS. It also includes detailed instructions in the set-up and maintenance of user access accounts.

Topics include:

  • System Components
  • Home Page Functionality
  • System Navigation
  • System Security set-up
  • Administration of access rights for users at the local level
  • Management of user contacts
  • Mapping of local codes
  • Reports and extracts
  • Data processing and management

Essential 3 - SSID Requests, Enrollment and Maintenance

Prerequisite:

  • Essential 1 – Overview of Objectives and Requirements
  • Essential 2 – Features, Code Mapping, and User Access

This course provides detailed instruction of  the online and batch process to request SSIDs (Statewide Student Identifiers).  It also covers the enrollment and maintenance of SSIDs.

Topics include:

  • Location of existing student SSIDs
  • SSID assignment and maintenance
  • Enrollment and enrollment updates
  • Student information and program data update and maintenance
  • Reviewing and resolving submission errors

Target Audience: LEA program and data management staff responsible for assigning and maintaining SSIDs and/or reporting district enrollment

Essential 4 - SSID Anomalies

Prerequisites:

This course provides an overview of the anomaly process and detailed instruction for reviewing and resolving anomalies.

    • Concurrent Enrollments (CCEs)
    • Exit Reason Discrepancies (ERDs)
    • Multiple Identifiers (MIDs)

Fall 1 Advanced - Reporting and Certification

Prerequisite:

  • Fall 1 - Reporting and Certification

This course provides details on changes related to Fall 1 Reporting and Certification. This is for staff who have experienced the Fall 1 certification process previously and would like a refresher. It covers changes in certification errors, how to use the CALPADS documentation for troubleshooting and error resolution, and common problems with Fall 1. The final portion of the course will be to answer questions from participants on this process.

Fall 2 - Elementary Data Population

Prerequisite:

  • Essential 1 – Overview of Objectives and Requirements
  • Essential 2 – Features, Code Mapping, and User Access
  • Essential 3 - SSID Requests, Enrollment and Maintenance
  • Essential 4 - SSID Anomalies
  • Fall 1 - Reporting and Certification

This course is targeted to elementary school districts, grades K-8.  The course covers the basic Fall 2 data population requirements for reporting students, staff and course data, and includes a brief review of reporting departmentalized course information.  If you need more extensive training on reporting “departmentalized courses” for grades 7 through 12, please attend the Fall 2 Data Population course. The final portion of the course is a question and answer session.
